About Us
The idea for MWH was born 4 years ago while we sat in our caravan looking out over gorgeous Cornish countryside. We decided to print t-shirts that would promote only west country artists and have a set-up that would be fair for all – the artists, the printer, the t-shirt manufacturer and the cotton grower.
We then approached 3 artist friends and told them our idea and that we’d split any profit with them 50/50. Once they’d stopped laughing (as apparently this wasn’t the normal way of doing things, even though it made sense to us) they said YES.
Next we looked at types of t-shirts and printing methods. We decided to only print using water based toxic-free inks – they’re much cleaner to print with than traditional oil-based inks and so much better for the environment, plus they look great too. Then the final stage was choosing the t-shirts. We opted to use garments that were Fair Wear Foundation certified (which is very similar to Fair Trade but dedicated to the needs of the garment industry) plus organic/low carbon cotton and bamboo/organic cotton mix.
So we started printing and MWH became a reality. As time’s gone by we’ve met many very talented people and now work with 10 artists from and based in Bristol, Somerset, Cornwall and Wales.
